Deputy Ben Teekell and K9 Turbo were special guests at the SJSO Distinguished Gentlemen’s Club’s meeting March 4, 2020 at Patrol Headquarters in LaPlace. Deputy Teekell talked about he and Turbo’s job — to find illegal drugs. Deputy Teekell also led Turbo in a demonstration to find marijuana under a cardboard box.
The K9 demonstration is among several activities presented by the SJSO for the DG Club. Several officers serve as mentors and work to guide these young men in building traits of good character that will prepare them to be productive members of society as well as assist these young men in obtaining skills needed to become positive influences in the community. These skills are introduced and reinforced through lessons, experiences, and interactions that deepen and broaden their knowledge to become distinguished gentlemen.
Anyone interested in assisting the DG club through sponsorship or mentorship may call Deputy Keith Duronslet at 985-359-8736.
