COVID-19 did not stop the Easter Bunny from spreading some holiday cheer with residents of St. John Parish April 11, 2020 during Operation Bunny Hop.
Sheriff Mike Tregre and the SJSO’s friendly rabbits, went on a ride-along with officers through several neighborhoods, hoping to uplift families during this difficult time.
As the bunnies passed homes throughout St. John Parish, they tossed a treat or two, offered waves, and blew kisses, and were excited to see smiles on many faces, both young and young at heart. And, while pictures with the bunny weren’t the traditional shots as officers were masked and social distanced, families were happy to have pictures to mark Easter 2020.
While people are confined to their homes during the coronavirus pandemic, Sheriff Tregre said, Operation Bunny Hop was a great way to bring a little joy to some families. We do wish we could have been able to see more families during our Operation Bunny Hop drive-by.
Sheriff Tregre and all officers with the SJSO wish everyone a happy and safe Easter.
