Four male juveniles, ages 13, 15 and 16, from Mt. Airy and Reserve, were arrested Monday, January 4, 2020 after a vehicle pursuit through Belle Point subdivision, and along Airline Highway, in LaPlace.
On January 4, 2021, about 4 p.m., officers with the Special Operation Division attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the juveniles, who officers were
familiar with as repeat offenders. As officers attempted to stop the 13-year-old driver at Heather Lane, he fled in the vehicle. A pursuit ensued, with the
juvenile crashing into an officer’s unit near River Pointe Drive. The driver and the other juveniles in the vehicle were then taken into custody. No one was
injured. During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered marijuana, ski masks and a firearm.
A 16-year-old juvenile from Reserve was booked with illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile (misd), resisting an officer by flight (misd) and possession of marijuana 1st offense (C2A) (misd). He remains in custody.
The 15-year-old juvenile from Reserve was booked with illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile (misd) and possession of marijuana 1st offense (C2A) (misd). He remains in custody.
A 13-year-old juvenile from Mt. Airy was charged with illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile (misd), resisting an officer by flight (misd) and possession of marijuana 1st offense (C2A) (misd). He remains in custody.
A 13-year-old juvenile from Reserve was charged with aggravated flight from an officer by vehicle (felony), aggravated criminal damage to property (felony), illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile (misd), possession of marijuana 1st offense (C2A) (misd) and resisting an officer by flight (misd). He remains in custody.
