Nasheka Lintrice Williams, 29, and Joshua D. Kendrick Sr., 32, both of Reserve, were arrested Monday, April 5, 2021 for cruelty to animals and also face child abuse and neglect charges.
On March 12, 2021, officers responded to a cruelty to animals complaint from St. John Parish Animal Control at Kendrick Sr. and Williams’ home in the 300 block of Terrio Drive in Reserve. Subsequently, officers were called to the home in reference to neglect of juveniles and deplorable living conditions of the home. Through investigation, detectives located and collected evidence that Kendrick Sr. and Williams had abused and neglected their children and their animals.
Based on investigation, officers obtained a judicial warrant for their arrest. Kendrick Sr. was booked with four counts of cruelty to juveniles (felony), four counts of child desertion (misd), two counts of improper supervision of a minor by a parent (misd), three counts of cruelty to animals – aggravated (felony). Kendrick Sr. also had an active warrant for his arrest for failure to appear in court for charges of cruelty to juveniles, unrelated to this incident.
Williams was booked with four counts of cruelty to juveniles (felony), four counts of child desertion (misd), two counts of improper supervision of a minor by a parent (misd), and three counts of cruelty to animals – aggravated (felony).
As of this morning, bond had not been set for the couple.
In observance of Child Abuse Prevention Month in April, the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office is participating in a Pinwheels for Prevention campaign.
