Two Reserve men were arrested Sunday, February 20, 2022 for several illegal drug violations as well as for being in possession of a stolen gun. Arrested were Joshua Vallery, 33; and Steven Sylve, 41.

On Sunday, February 20, 2022, about 4:45 a.m., deputies observed a vehicle without a license plate traveling northbound on Belle Terre Boulevard in LaPlace where it failed to use a turn signal at Madewood Drive.

Officers initiate a traffic stop and made contact the driver, identified as Vallery, and the passenger, identified as Sylve. Officers learned both are convicted felons. Vallery also had contempt of court warrants in St. John Parish and a fugitive warrant out of Lafourche Parish. Sylve also had a contempt of court warrant in St. John. Both were detained.

After the traffic stop, officers determined further investigation was warranted. The K9 unit then conducted a search of the vehicle. Deputies discovered a shoulder bag on the floorboard of the front seat that contained several small plastic bags, syringes, and residue identified as amphetamines. Officers also located in different areas of the vehicle a bag containing cocaine residue, $260 in cash, a digital scale, and a gun stolen out of St. James Parish.

Vallery were arrested and transported to the Sherman Walker Correctional Center. He was charged with possession or distribution of drug paraphernalia 1st offense (misd); illegal possession of stolen firearm; possession of firearm/carrying concealed weapon by convicted felon (felony); distribution of amphetamine (felony); and possession with intent to distribute cocaine (felony). Vallery is being held in custody in lieu of a $111,839 bond.

Due to health issues, Sylve was transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation. Upon arrival to Sylve’s hospital room, officers were alerted to illegal narcotics in the room. Officers discovered in a cabinet in the room, a container with about 1.8 grams of heroin, 4.8 grams of methamphetamines, and .5 grams of crack cocaine.

Sylve was booked for illegal possession of stolen firearm; possession of firearm/carrying concealed weapon by convicted felon (felony); distribution of amphetamine (felony); and possession with intent to distribute cocaine (felony); possession or distribution of drug paraphernalia 1st offense (misd); possession with intent to distribute cocaine (felony); possession with intent to distribute heroin; possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine (felony).

Sylve was treated and released then transported to the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility. He is being held in custody in lieu of a $211,850 bond
