On Friday, September 15, 2023, about 11:45 p.m., the SJSO received reports of a shooting and officers on patrol on West Airline Highway in LaPlace heard a gunshot in the area of New Orleans Original Daiquiris and immediately responded to the business’s parking lot.

Emergency medical services arrived on scene to render aid. The victim was airlifted to a New Orleans hospital where he is in critical condition.
With the use of surveillance cameras, officers tracked an unknown male fitting the description of the suspect in the shooting at an apartment complex on Elm Street in LaPlace. During an interview with detectives, Favorite confessed to the shooting. Favorite stated to detectives that the motive for the shooting was that he “wanted to kill someone.”
