The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested former St. John Sheriff’s Office deputy Nicholas Bordelon on Friday, Oct. 25, 2024 and booked him with simple battery.

Bordelon’s arrest comes after the Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation of an incident that occurred Oct. 12, 2024 in which Bordelon was observed on a body camera using excessive force during an arrest. The body camera shows Bordelon striking a suspect multiple times with a closed fist.

After observing the incident on body camera, Bordelon was terminated on Oct. 14, 2024, and the investigation was taken over by the St. John Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division who subsequently obtained an arrest warrant.

Bordelon, 32, was booked into the St. John Parish jail. He was released after posting bond.

Bordelon had been employed as a patrol deputy in St. John since July 6, 2022.
