The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Baton Rouge man after he was caught on a home security camera pulling on the front door of a house in LaPlace early Sunday morning.

The man, whom SJSO detectives later identified as Gari Green, 40, was seen pulling on the door knob of a home in the 2700 block of Williamsburg Drive shortly around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2025.

After trying the door, Green is seen walking off. The home owner called the Sheriff’s Office to report the incident after receiving a notification from her security company. The homeowner did not know Green.

Green turned himself in on Tuesday. During a break in the interview process while detectives were out of the room, Green removed a bag of marijuana that he had concealed on his body and began to consume it in an attempt to destroy evidence.

Green was booked with obstruction of justice, possession of synthetic marijuana – 1st Offense (MISD) and attempted unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling (felony).
