In celebration of National Read Across America and the birthday of Dr. Seuss on March 2, 2023, Sheriff Mike Tregre and several fellow officers enjoyed reading and speaking to students at local elementary schools. Sheriff Tregre read “Delilah’s Delightful Dream,” a story about respecting others and cooperation and teamwork, for students at LaPlace Elementary, John L. Ory, and Emily C. Watkins Elementary.
Several officers also read a variety of books to students at Lake Pontchartrain, Fifth Ward Elementary, LaPlace Elementary and West St. John Elementary.
Sheriff Tregre and all of the officers stressed to students that reading is essential to success in their life, and the more they read the more they will learn.
Reading to students was a wonderful way to spend their morning, the officers said.
