Detectives with the St. John Parish Office are investigating a Garyville shooting that resulted in the death of Javant Dunn, 19, of Greensburg, La. Here, Javant is pictured with his aunt.
On Sunday, April 2, 2023, about 3:30 a.m., deputies responded to a complaint in the 200 block of South Emilie Street in Garyville in reference to a man unresponsive lying on the ground outside a residence.
Upon arrival, officers learned the male subject, identified as Dunn, had sustained gunshot wounds to the body. Dunn was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner’s office. A motive is unknown at this time.
