Two men in a stolen vehicle were arrested August 10, 2023 after a brief pursuit with police. Arrested were Deonte Spencer, 19, of Metairie; and Theron Glover Jr., 22, of New Orleans.
On August 10, 2023, about 8:30 a.m., officers were alerted to a vehicle reported stolen in an armed carjacking in New Orleans. Officers also learned the suspects, identified as Spencer and Glover, were under investigation for a ring of recent motor vehicle thefts and armed carjackings between New Orleans and Jefferson Parish.
Officers located the vehicle in the 8800 block of Sunnyside Drive in LaPlace. As officers attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle, the driver, identified as Theron Glover refused to stop. After a brief pursuit, a tactical vehicle intervention maneuver was conducted, causing the vehicle to become immobilized at Short Street and Sunnyside Drive. Spencer and Glover exited the vehicle and fled on foot northwest through the neighborhood. As the suspects fled, officers observed firearms falling from both Spencer and Glover’s person.
Canvassing the area, officers located and arrested Spencer in the 1600 block of Jefferson Street. Glover was located in the 8700 block of Sunnyside Drive.
Officers recovered both firearms, and learned one firearm was reported stolen by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and the second firearm was reported stolen by the New Orleans Police Department.
Spencer was booked with aggravated flight from an officer by vehicle; illegal possession of a stolen firearm; and illegal possession of stolen things. Spencer is being held in custody in lieu of a $225,000 bond set by Judge Nghana Lewis.
During booking, officers located Tapentadol tablets inside Glover’s shoe.
Glover was charged with aggravated flight from an officer by vehicle; illegal possession of a stolen firearm; illegal possession of stolen things; and possession of a schedule II CDS. Glover is being held in custody in lieu of a $250,000 bond set by Judge Nghana Lewis.
