St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a LaPlace man in connection with a shooting Monday night in the 2400 block of Williamsburg Drive in LaPlace. Authorities were called to a house on Williamsburg at 6:20 p.m. in reference to a shooting.

When deputies arrived at the house, they found an 18-year-old man lying on a porch with an apparent gunshot to the ankle. The man was transported to University Hospital via Acadian Ambulance where he was later released.

While investigating at the scene, officers identified 20-year-old Graylin Burl, III as a suspect in the shooting. The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time.

Burl was arrested and booked into the St. John Parish jail on charges of attempted second-degree murder and obstruction of justice.

Burl is being held in the parish jail under a $160,000 bond.
