The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division arrested three men on Monday, Feb. 25, 2025 in connection with the possession of illegal drugs and operating a clandestine laboratory for the unlawful manufacture of controlled dangerous substance, among other charges.

During a traffic stop on North Sugar Ridge Drive shortly after 9 p.m.,deputies observed marijuana and illegal prescription narcotics in the vehicle, which was occupied by Maalik A. Jackson, 29, his brother Mystafus Azim Jackson,33, and Denzel L. Mason, 34, all of LaPlace.

Following the stop, a search warrant was executed at Mystafus Jackson’s apartment in LaPlace in which deputies found additional illegal drugs, including Fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, including scales and a gun. Detectives located the Fentanyl along with cutting agent, baggies and a blender that was being used to mix the deadly drug for sale to the public.

Mystafus Azim Jackson was booked with possession with intent to distribute oxycodone; possession with intent to distribute marijuana (felony); possession or distribution of drug paraphernalia 1st Offense (misdemeanor); possession of firearm/carry concealed weapon by convicted felon (felony); illegal carrying of weapon with CDS; possession with intent to distribute Fentanyl(felony) and creation or operation of a clandestine laboratory for the unlawful manufacture of CDS (felony).

Mystafus Jackson is being held in the parish jail under a $216,500 bond.

Denzel L. Mason was booked with a fugitive warrant for Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, an attachment warrant for contempt of court (misdemeanor); judicial judge warrant for simple criminal damage to property-under $500 (misdemeanor); bench warrant for contempt of court (misdemeanor); judicial judge warrant for domestic abuse battery (misdemeanor) and possession of oxycodone.

Mason is being held in the parish jail under $9,339 bond.

Maalik Jackson was booked with contempt of court (felony); possession of marijuana 28 grams or more (felony); possession of oxycodone; sale, distribution or possession of legend drug without prescription or order prohibited.

He has been released under a $15,450 bond.
