St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Patrol Deputy Woodrow St. Pierre has been named the Officer of the Third Quarter for 2025. Deputy St. Pierre was recognized for his bravery and quick response after hearing multiple gunshots at a gas station near an ongoing public event.

“Alone and without any other officer immediately around, this deputy stopped a dangerous situation as it was unfolding,” St. John Sheriff Mike Tregre said.

Sheriff Tregre recognized Deputy St. Pierre during a command staff meeting at the Lloyd B. Johnson Training Center in LaPlace on Thursday, Nov. 13. Brandon Mabile of Mabile’s Restaurant, was the sponsor of the Officer Of The Third Quarter.

Deputy St. Pierre will be one of four officers considered for the 2025 Officer of the Year award during a ceremony held annually in January.
While on patrol on Aug. 28, Deputy St. Pierre heard multiple gunshots coming from a gas station and without hesitation pulled over and exited the police vehicle.

He saw someone fire a gun multiple times towards the opposite side of the building. Deputy St. Pierre quickly took command of the situation with verbal orders while continuing to cover subjects inside of a vehicle with his duty weapon. One of the other suspects quickly discarded a firearm under the rear of the vehicle.

Deputy St. Pierre was able to order the other four suspects out of the vehicle and hold them face down until back up arrived. His actions resulted in the recovery of two firearms—a handgun and one AR style rifle—and the arrest of multiple suspects.

“This incident occurred less than a quarter mile from a public event and could have led to the violence escalating had it not been for the brave actions of Deputy St. Pierre,” Sheriff Tregre said.
