Manmeet Singh, who fled authorities after being released from a New Orleans hospital after causing a fatal collision on Interstate 10 on Sept. 23, 2025, has been arrested and booked into the St. John the Baptist Parish jail in LaPlace.
Singh, 30, was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service on Friday, March 13, 2026 in Ridgeland, Mississippi. He was booked into the St. John Parish jail on Thursday, March 19, 2026. He faces charges of vehicular homicide, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and driving in the wrong direction. In addition, Singh was booked with a felony contempt of court charge and a misdemeanor contempt of court. His bond has been set at $260,000.
Singh also is being held under an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer for Immigration and Naturalization Service.
According to the Louisiana State Police, Singh was operating a vehicle while intoxicated (0.21% BAC) on I-10 in St. John Parish. Singh was driving head-on into opposing traffic and struck a vehicle.
The victim of the crash, 21-year-old Patricia Saidu, sustained fatal injuries at the scene. Singh was transported to University Medical Center in serious condition, but recovered and was released.
