St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives have arrested four suspects in connection with the shooting death of a Baton Rouge man that happened Friday, March 13, 2026 in the area of Williamsburg Drive and Bedford Drive in LaPlace.

The victim, identified as Jackie Dempsey, Jr., age 27, was found sitting in the front driver’s seat of a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Based on evidence collected during the investigation, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives determined that Dempsey was the intended target of the attack.

Over the course of the investigation SJSO detectives were able to identify, 19-year-old Cameron Harvey of Westwego; 17-year-old Bryson Jason, 18-year-old JaJuan Jason, both of Harvey, LA. and Roal Phillips, 19, of Marrero, as suspects.

Neither the victim nor the suspects have any ties to St. John Parish, according to detectives.

Bryson Jason and JaJuan Jason, who are cousins, were arrested without incident in Jefferson Parish on Wednesday, March 18. Phillips was arrested Friday, March 20, in New Orleans and Harvey was arrested on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 in Jefferson Parish.

St. John Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre would like to thank Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joe Lopinto and his officers for their help on this case.

All four suspects are being held in the parish jail in LaPlace after being booked with second degree murder (felony) and armed robbery with a firearm (felony). Bryson Jason, JaJuan Jason and Phillips are being held under a $205,000 bond.

Bond has not been set for Harvey.
