Investigators with the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office have arrested two suspects and booked them with the armed robbery of a 16-year-old boy that happened Saturday, April 4, 2026, in LaPlace.
SJSO deputies responded to the 100 block of Dave Street in Reserve at 5:08 p.m. on Saturday in reference to a juvenile male being robbed at gunpoint. The victim told investigators that he’d driven to LaPlace earlier to meet with Brendell Cosey, 17, and his cousin, Jacoi Cosey, 18, who wanted to buy his headphones.
The victim reported that he met Brendell Cosey and Jacoi Cosey near the intersection of Elm Street and Fagot Loop in LaPlace where they both pointed guns at him and demanded his belongings. The victim reported that they ripped two watches from his arm and stole his headphones. The victim said the three items stolen has a total value of $944.
The victim reported that Brendell Cosey hit him in the head with his gun before leaving the scene. The victim went home and called 911 to report the incident.
Deputies patrolling the area of Elm Street and Fagot Loop in reference to the robbery spotted Brendell Cosey and Jocoi Cosey walking on Fagot Loop.
Investigators executed a search warrant on a residence and recovered the headphones and a gun.
The two were arrested and booked into the parish jail with armed robbery (felony). Brendell Cosey was also booked with aggravated battery (felony).
Brendell Cosey is being held in the parish jail under a $108,000 bond. Jacoi Cosey is being held in the parish jail under a $75,000 bond.
