The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that happened shortly after noon on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026 in the New Era subdivision in LaPlace. One person, a 38-year-old man, was shot in the leg and transported via helicopter to a New Orleans hospital.
At 12:09 p.m., St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call in reference to a person being shot. Officers found the victim lying in a yard in the 1800 block of Cinclair Loop. He had been shot in the leg and was receiving medical treatment from St. John Parish Fire Department officials until Acadian Ambulance arrived and took over treatment.
The man has refused to cooperate with St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives.
