St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre is proud to announce that a groundbreaking ceremony for the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office’s new Administration Building was held Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, at the site of the new Sheriff’s Office, 2105 W. Airline Highway, in LaPlace.
The one-story, 30,000 square-foot building integrates critical Sheriff’s Office operations under one roof on land that abuts the Sherman R. Walker Correctional Center, Patrol Headquarters, Fleet Maintenance and the Octavio “Ox” Gonzalez SWAT Training Facility.
“In building at this location, we are creating a Public Safety Complex that will be designed to serve the St. John Parish Community and the Sheriff’s Office for years to come,” Sheriff Tregre said. “This building will serve as the centralized, administrative hub for the department. It will include all of our Civil Departments, such as records, bonds and taxes, public relations, as well as our Criminal Investigations Divisions and Narcotics Divisions.”
This project is a continuation of Sheriff Tregre’s goals of modernizing SJSO’s facilities to better serve and protect the residents of St. John the Baptist Parish with enhanced law enforcement capabilities.
Located on an 18-acre site along Airline Highway, Sheriff Tregre said the new Administration Building will serve as the central hub for the Sheriff’s Office wide ranging operations and will be efficiently designed for public access.
“Our current headquarters at the Percy Hebert was constructed more than 50 years ago and has served this department, and many other St. John Parish government agencies, well for decades,” Sheriff Tregre said. “However, the modern technological needs of the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office have outgrown our current space.”
The project is expected to cost $15.5 million and will be paid for by the department’s current revenue with no additional cost to taxpayers. Construction of the new facility is projected to take 15 months.
The facility is designed by architecture firm of Grace Design Studios and will be built by Arkel Constructors.
