On Tuesday, September 15, at 9:14 pm, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 300 block of West 2nd Street in LaPlace for the report of gunshots heard in the area. When deputies arrived, deputies found a 43-year-old male victim with gunshot wounds to his upper torso. EMS transported him to a New Orleans area hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown. Deputies also responded to the 1400 block of Cambridge Drive in LaPlace for the report of a second shooting victim who told deputies that he was shot on West 2nd Street. The victim fled the residence and drove himself to the Cambridge address. Deputies identified the second victim as a 49-year-old LaPlace man. EMS transported him to a New Orleans area hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown.
The victim on West 2nd Street told deputies that the shooter’s face was covered. Investigators do not believe that this incident was a random act.
