St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives identified a suspect in the triple shooting that occurred in LaPlace on October 5 leaving two victims dead. Over the course of the investigation, detectives identified Derrence Greenup, 28, of Reserve as a suspect in the murder investigation. Detectives obtained a judicial court ordered arrest warrant for Greenup for two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder.
St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives, U.S. Marshals’ Fugitive Task Force, U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Homeland Security, and Kenner Police Department arrested Derrence Greenup without incident near the airport in Kenner. Deputies will transfer Greenup to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Sherman Walker Correctional Center and book him on the aforementioned charges.
