While we’re not celebrating our traditional Mardi Gras this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office is doing its best to keep the spirit alive for our veterans and elderly. The drive-by parade planned for today at the Louisiana War Veterans Home in Reserve and Twin Oaks Nursing Home in LaPlace was cancelled due to bad weather. However, still wanting to spread some Mardi Gras holiday cheer, officers Gloria Tassin, Ingrid Perrilloux, Albernae Harris and Ira Marsalis dropped off Carnival-colored donuts from Donut Hole and Coffee & to the facilities for personnel to deliver to residents.The SJSO wishes everyone a safe and Happy Mardi Gras.
