Sheriff Millet won the election to fill the unexpired term of Sheriff Percy D. Hebert, who died in office. In a 1974 highly contested election, Millet won election by 254 over Lloyd B. Johnson. In 1976, Millet resigned from Sheriff 5 months early and relinquished the office to Sheriff Lloyd B. Johnson who won the general election of 1975 by 265 votes. Millet resigned from office in 1976.
