On Monday, December 28, 2015, at 6:28 pm, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residence in the 600 block of NW 2nd Street in Reserve for the report of gunshots. Deputies located a 15- year-old male and a 16-year-old male who each sustained a graze wound. Emergency medical services transported both victims to Ochsner River Parishes emergency room for treatment. No one else was injured.
The two wounded victims and a 16-year-old male friend told deputies that they were outside at the rear of the house and saw a group of about ten people on the nearby railroad tracks. The three juveniles said gunshots were fired from the group, and they ran to the other side of the house for safety.
A 35-year-old female victim told deputies that she was in the house with her 9-year-old daughter when she heard what she thought was fireworks, but she quickly realized that it was gunshots. Her house was hit with gunshots, one gunshot breaking a window. Neither she nor her daughter was injured.
