Sheriff Mike Tregre and several of his officers had a great time with a group of kids on July 23, 2022 when the St. John Sheriff’s Office presented it first Punt, Pass and Kick competition at Joe Keller Stadium in Reserve.
More than 100 boys and girls ages 6-13 registered for the free event. Led by officers, the children had fun learning the fundamentals of football. Children also enjoyed snowballs during breaks. Hamburgers and hot dogs prepared by officers were served for lunch. And, deputy Justin Williams kept coaches and children energized with great music.
At the end of the event, children received backpacks filled with school supplies as well as a SJSO goodie bag filled with a personalized PP&K picture and other treats.
Sheriff Mike Tregre encourages his officers to participate in community outreach projects such as Punt, Pass and Kick to connect with kids. “We really enjoy hosting youth activities like punt, pass and kick to give children the opportunity to see deputies in a different role other than that of law enforcement officers and to form a positive relationship with them.”
The SJSO is very grateful to Marathon for its corporate sponsorship. We also send a big shout out to other sponsors and supporters:
