At the intersection of technology and good old fashioned police work is where St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Kristin Chenier lives. For her outstanding dedication, teamwork and excellence in overall job performance, Sgt. Chenier was named Officer of the Third Quarter for 2024.

Sgt. Chenier is often instrumental in helping solve cases behind the scenes, Sheriff Mike Tregre said.

Sheriff Tregre, along with Bill Robinson, the owner of Cool Concepts, sponsor of the Officer Of The Third Quarter, recognized Sgt. Chenier during a staff meeting at the Lloyd B. Johnson Training Center in LaPlace.

Sgt. Chenier will be one of four officers considered for the 2024 Officer of the Year award during a ceremony next week.

Sgt. Chenier produces exceptional records working closely with the Criminal Investigations Division, Patrol/Traffic Division and the Narcotics Division. She constantly communicates, even on her days off, with officers to keep them up to date on surveillance of suspects and suspect vehicles.

Sgt. Chenier often spends countless hours reviewing the many crime cameras throughout St. John Parish to locate and provide all available footage of incidents that lead to the arrest and prosecution of offenders. From arson suspects to homicide cases to someone dumping trash illegally, she is able to obtain the crime camera footage necessary to further investigations.

As a supervisor in the records division, Sgt. Chenier is responsible for maintaining all Sheriff Office records, insuring these records are provided to the district attorney’s office for criminal cases. She also maintains all digital evidence we now obtain from the many body cameras and vehicle dash cameras.
