The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested three teenagers, ages 12, 13 and 14, for burglarizing six vehicles during an early morning crime spree on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

The trio was arrested shortly before 3 a.m. on Saturday after St. John Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to Grant Drive in LaPlace in reference to a report of suspicious subjects in the area. The caller advised that three people were seen walking in the street wearing dark clothing and ski masks over their faces.

Responding officers observed the subjects in the 1600 block of Jefferson Street. When the subjects saw Sheriff’s deputies, they attempted to run, with one attempting to hide under a vehicle. The suspects were detained and later were found to have several reported stolen items in their possession. Two of three suspects confessed their involvement to detectives.

The 14-year-old was arrested in April of this year in connection with a string of car burglaries, the attempted theft of a vehicle in Reserve and illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile. When arrested in that incident, he was 13-years-old and was found in possession of a stolen gun.

The burglarized vehicles were located on four different streets. Three of the vehicles reported burglarized were located on Richmond Drive, and one each was located on Delta Road, Sunnyside Drive and Grant Drive.

The juveniles were arrested and later released into the custody of their parents.
