Two male juveniles ages 12 and 13 have been arrested by the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office and booked with simple robbery, a felony. The two juveniles are accused of beating another 12-year-old boy and stealing his bike and his 15-year-old friend’s bike Wednesday (March 26, 2025) night.

The mother of the 12-year-old victim called the Sheriff’s Office to report the incident shortly after 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The victims told deputies that they were riding their bikes, described as a black and red BMX bike and a black Huffy mountain bike, home when they were accosted by four suspects at the intersection of Carrollwood and Dominican Drive in LaPlace.

The 14-year-old victim told deputies that they stopped after one of the four suspects called his name. The 14-year-old approached the group and a physical altercation began after they attempted to take a “shiesty” football mask he was wearing. When the group couldn’t take the mask, the 12-year-old said he was tackled to the ground and was punched several times by the 13-year-old and 12-year-old suspects. The group then left with the stolen the bikes.

During the course of the investigation, Sheriff’s investigators were able to identify the 12 and 13-year-old suspects. Additional arrests are expected.

Sheriff Mike Tregre said he is reviewing the parish’s juvenile curfew law and is considering creating a special patrol team aimed at curbing potential curfew violations.

“Summer break is fast approaching, and if this incident is any indication we may need to intensify our curfew enforcement to curb potential violations,” Sheriff Tregre said. “So parents you better know where your kids are.”
