The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested two LaPlace teenagers, ages 13 and 14, for attempted theft of a vehicle (felony) and simple burglary of a motor vehicle.

On April 14, 2026, shortly after 3 a.m. St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to 201 Rue Dubourg, the parking lot of Place Dubourg Senior Living Center, in reference to a vehicle burglary.

A security guard reported seeing two young males inside a vehicle in the parking lot. One of the males was seated in the front driver’s seat and the other was in the back seat of the vehicle. As the security guard approached, the suspects left the vehicle and fled on foot. A cell phone, later determined to belong to one of the suspects, was found on the ground near the vehicle.

The vehicle’s rear passenger window was shattered and the steering column was damaged.

Over the course of the investigation, St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives were able to determine the identity of the juvenile suspects.

The 13-year-old, who was seen in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, was arrested on May 13, 2026. The 14-year-old, who was seen in the back seat, was arrested on May 19, 2026. Both have been released into the custody of their parents.
