St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre recently accepted a donation from REV representatives for the continued enhancement and support of technology and equipment at the Lloyd B. Johnson Law Enforcement Training Center in LaPlace.
REV representatives Eddie Callais, LeAnn Stelly and Jeremy Theriot toured the facility with Sheriff Tregre and Captain Chip Wale, training center commander.
“We train as many agencies as we can here in St. John,” Sheriff Tregre said. “Your financial assistance is helping us train, not only our officers, but it is helping us train law enforcement throughout the state and the country. Right here.”
The center, which is named in honor of Johnson who served as St. John Parish Sheriff for 20 years, is used to enhance safety, address professional training needs of officers, offer community education, increase interaction between citizens and law enforcement, and boost police presence in the community.
The training center includes, a technology room equipped with virtual reality equipment and simulation programs, as well as a fitness center, shooting range and several meeting rooms.
