St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre had the pleasure of presenting Evanne Robertson of Mount Airy with the 2026 academic scholarship from the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Scholarship Program.
Robertson will receive $1,000 for educational expenses.
The Louisiana Sheriffs’ Educational Scholarship Program awards $1,000 to graduating high school students in parishes where the sheriffs are members of the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Honorary Membership Program.
Robertson, a 2026 graduate of East St. John High School in Reserve, plans to attend Louisiana State University-Baton Rouge to study mass communications. Robertson wants to pursue a career in digital marketing with a focus on entertainment and social media. She wants to parlay her creativity and skills into managing and creating campaigns that connect and resonate with audiences across a variety of platforms and mediums, including film, television and pop culture.
At ESJ, Robertson is an honor student and participates in the dual enrollment program to earn college credit. Robertson holds a 4.3 GPA and scored 29 out of 36 on the ACT and works a part-time job!
Because of her academic achievements, Robertson also has earned a four-year scholarship from the state of Louisiana’s Taylor Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS).
Applications for the LSA Scholarship were received from graduating seniors in St. John Parish from Feb. 1 to April 1. Qualities such as academic achievement, leadership, community service, extracurricular activities and character are considered. Applications were reviewed by a committee of SJSO employees, and the committee then submitted its recommendations to Sheriff Tregre.
Applicants for the scholarship must be a permanent resident of Louisiana, use the scholarship for higher education within Louisiana, and be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student.
Congratulations to Robertson and all the 2026 graduates!
