Jemine Turner, 31, of LaPlace, was arrested Monday, July 24, 2017 in connection with a burglary of Petra’s Restaurant on West Airline Highway in LaPlace. On Friday, July 14, 2017, about 3 p.m., deputies responded to the restaurant in reference to a burglary of the business. Through investigation, officers learned there were no signs of forced entry. The suspect entered the business when it was closed, through a back door that may have been unlocked since the back area of the business is fenced. Two cash register drawers were damaged by an unknown object. Nothing was stolen. Through further investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Jemine Turner and arrested him for simple burglary – immovable structure. During questioning, Turner confessed to his involvement in the incident. Turner worked as a dishwasher at the business. He also was wanted on a fugitive warrant from Vernon Parish for aggravated assault, simple burglary, and disturbing the peace and for contempt of court in St. John Parish. He is being held in custody in lieu of a $25,169.50 bond.
