St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputies will no longer unlock vehicles with keys locked in them except in the case of emergency situations. Due to liability concerns and the recent increase in the number of complaints regarding damage done to vehicles, the Sheriff’s Office has decided that it can only justify the risk when infants or disabled parties are involved or when certain emergency situations deem it necessary. This policy went into effect August 1, 2012.
