On Thursday, April 2, 2015, at 10:59 am, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the St. James Parish Hospital emergency room when hospital personnel reported that a 13-year-old girl was sexually assaulted. The 13-year-old victim told deputies that her mother’s boyfriend sexually assaulted her Thursday morning at her residence after her mother had left for work. Deputies identified the boyfriend as Delcome Evans, 36, of LaPlace.
After the incident, Evans left the residence. The victim told deputies that she told her older sister what happened, and her sister called her mother at work. The mother came home and took her daughter to the hospital. The victim told investigators that she did what Evans told her to do because she feared that he would hurt her or her sister if she did not do what he said.
Detectives obtained a judicial court ordered arrest warrant for Delcome Evans for forcible rape and arrested him Friday morning, April 3, at his Glendale Drive residence. Evans remains in custody in lieu of a $75,000 bond.
