St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested Trey Johnson, 20, of Sunnyside Drive in Reserve in connection with the murder of Dejuan Bell on July 6. Thursday, deputies booked Johnson with principal to first-degree murder and obstruction of justice-tampering with evidence. He remains in custody in lieu of a $155,000 bond.
Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance for information to help identify a second suspect in connection with this investigation. On Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at 7:53 pm, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 8800 block of Richmond Drive in Reserve for the report of gunshots heard in the area and a vehicle that hit a building. Deputies arrived on the scene to find a male subject with a gunshot slumped over the steering wheel of the vehicle. Emergency medical services transported the victim to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Investigators identified the victim as Dejuan Bell, 22, of Williamsburg Drive in LaPlace.
Detectives continue to process evidence and to follow leads in the investigation.

This homicide is the second homicide in St. John the Baptist Parish this year.
