Charles R. Lanoue, 32, of LaPlace was arrested October 19, 2021 after a theft complaint led officers to find an explosive device, bomb manufacturing materials, drugs, and guns at Lanoue’s residence in LaPlace.
On Monday, October 18, 2021, about 9:30 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Cambre Street in Reserve in reference to a theft of an electric panel and a boat anchor. While investigating the scene, officers located an explosive device in the front yard of the residence. Shortly after, the SWAT team arrived on scene and neutralized the device.
Through investigation, officers developed Lanoue as a suspect. Based on investigation, officers obtained a search warrant for Lanoue’s residence. Inside the residence, detectives located bomb manufacturing material, methamphetamines, drug paraphernalia, and several guns, among other items. The electric panel and anchor also were recovered.
Lanoue confessed to making the explosive device and placing the device at the Reserve home. He was arrested at his residence and charged with theft $1000 – $5,000 (felony), criminal trespass– immovable property, and theft – less than $1,000 (misd), two counts of manufacturing and possession of a bomb (felony), possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine (felony), prohibited acts, drug paraphernalia (misd); sale, distribution, or possession of legend drug without prescription or order prohibited, possession of marijuana 1st offense (C2A (misd); and illegal carrying of weapon with CDS.
Lanoue is being held in custody in lieu of a $394,000 bond.
