Clay Howard Raymond Sr., 47, of LaPlace was arrested May 20, 2022 in connection to illegal drug activity in St. John the Baptist Parish.
After an investigation for several months, members of the St. John Sheriff’s Office SWAT team, detectives with the Narcotics Unit and US Drug Enforcement Administration officers executed a narcotics search warrant on May 20, 2022 at Raymond’s residence in the 2100 block of Pinehurst Drive in LaPlace.
Searching the residence, detectives located about 46 grams of crack cocaine, about 8 pounds of marijuana, multiple morphine tablets, and $13,617 in cash.
Detectives also located six firearms (three rifles and three handguns), along with several boxes of ammunition. One of the recovered firearms was stolen during a residential burglary in December 2021 in Reserve. Detectives also located multiple digital scales, vacuum sealed bags, and a vacuum sealer which are all used in the trafficking of illicit narcotics.
Raymond, a convicted felon, was at the residence when the search warrant was executed. He was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana (felony); distribution/manufacture crack cocaine (felony), prohibited acts, drug paraphernalia (misd), possession of firearm/carry concealed weapon by convicted felon (felony), illegal carrying of weapon with CDS, possession of morphine, transactions involving proceeds from CDS activity (felony).
Bond was set at $551,500. Raymond has been transferred to a correctional facility outside of St. John Parish.
