Amandzo Williams, 41, of LaPlace was arrested August 1, 2023 in connection to illegal drugs activity in St. John the Baptist Parish.
In late July 2023, the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division began investigating Williams and his involvement in the distribution of illegal narcotics, specifically cocaine, in St. John the Baptist Parish. Williams has an arrest history including, but not limited to possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, taking contraband to/from penal institution, domestic abuse battery, flight from an officer, reckless operation of a vehicle and driving while intoxicated.
Based on the recent investigation, Williams was arrested August 1. During his apprehension and subsequent search warrant at his residence in the 100 block of Apricot Street, detectives located and recovered about 122 grams of cocaine HCL, about 17.79 grams of crack cocaine, about 142 grams of marijuana, and more than $52,700 in cash. Detectives know through prior experience and training that the evidence recovered was consistent with the distribution of illegal narcotics.
Williams was charged with prohibited acts, drug paraphernalia (misd), sale, distribution, or possession of legend drug without prescription or order prohibited; transactions involving proceeds from controlled dangerous substance activity (felony), possession with intent to distribute marijuana (felony), possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine (felony) and possession with intent to distribute cocaine (felony).
He is being held in custody in lieu of $136,500 bond.
