St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies will get an additional tool to help keep them safe as they combat crime in the parish.
While celebrating the annual Night Out Against Crime on Oct. 8, members of the Belle Terre Civic Association donated $1,000 to purchase a bullet proof vest for a St. John Sheriff’s Office deputy in an effort to help keep them safe as they protect the parish.
“On behalf of my deputies, I appreciate this act of kindness and concern for my officers’ safety,” said Sheriff Mike Tregre. “For you to donate this while we are celebrating Night Out Against Crime, an event designed to promote community-police partnerships, speaks volume to me.
“Part of the Sheriff’s Office mission is that we want to improve the quality of life in our parish,” Sheriff Tregre continued. “One way we do that is through partnership with our communities.”
