The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested two suspects in connection with the Monday, June 15, 2026 murder of 17-year-old Omarion Ingram of LaPlace. The suspects were arrested in New Orleans on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

The suspects are Avante Pierce, 24, and his brother, Zion Pierce, 18, both of LaPlace.

Zion Pierce has been booked with second degree murder ($170,000 bond), armed robbery with a firearm (felony; bond set at $11,000) and aggravated battery (felony; bond set at $7,500).

Zion Pierce is being held in the St. John Parish jail under a total bond amount of $188,500 set by 40th JDC Judge Vercell Fiffie.

Avante Pierce remains in New Orleans Police custody on unrelated charges. He is charged with second degree murder and armed robbery.

Over the course of the investigation, St. John Sheriff’s Office detectives learned that Avante Pierce and Zion Pierce got into a physical altercation with Omarion Ingram outside of the Pierce’s residence on Cinclair Loop on Monday night. Ingram, who was shot, ran from the area and later collapsed and died in a nearby field.

St. John Parish Sheriff’s officers responded to Cinclair Loop at 7:20 p.m. on Monday in reference to the report of gun shots. When officers arrived on scene, they found evidence of shots having been fired in the form of shell casings on the ground near an alley.

While SJSO was on scene, a relative of Ingram’s informed detectives that Ingram was believed to have been in the area and possibly involved in an altercation around the time the gunfire was reported to the Sheriff’s Office. Relatives told officers that they had not been able to get in contact with Ingram.

While canvassing the area, the Sheriff’s Office found the body of an unresponsive male at 10:08 p.m. The male, later identified as Ingram, was located in a field near the former Winn-Dixie grocery store. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
