John Jason Gautreaux, 37, of LaPlace was arrested Tuesday, May 9, 2017 in connection to a domestic abuse incident as well as a burglary of a business. Marissa Page, 21, of Luling also was arrested in the theft incident.
On Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at about 10 p.m., deputies responded to a call in reference to a burglary of LaPlace Thrift Treasures on Woodland Drive. During the investigation, deputies learned that a male subject, later identified as John Jason Gautreaux, was screaming at a female subject, later identified as Marissa Page, as they were burglarizing the business. Upon arrival, officers located Gautreaux and Page near a blue Chevrolet truck backed up to the front of the business and observed the subjects loading a dental chair from the store porch into the bed of the truck. Officers then detained both subjects. Based on further investigation, officers learned that Page believed Gautreaux, her boyfriend, had permission to take the item from the business for scrap metal. When she refused to exit the truck to help him load the chair, however, a verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation with Gautreaux pulling Page from the truck. Gautreaux allegedly struck Page with his hand several times and slammed her head on the truck fender, coercing her to participate in the theft. Page was booked with theft $750 – $5,000. She is being held in custody in lieu of a $750 bond. Gautreaux was booked with domestic abuse battery and theft $750 – $5,000. He is being held in custody in lieu of a $4,500 bond. The chair has been returned to the store owner.
