On Saturday, August 1, 2015, at 10:20 pm, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 700 block of Belle Pointe Boulevard in Reserve for the report of a male subject being shot. Deputies were in the area to disperse a large crowd of people after several fights occurred as people were leaving a party at East St. John Elementary School.
The victim sustained a single gunshot wound just above his ankle. Emergency Medical Services treated the victim and transported him to a New Orleans area hospital. No other injuries were reported.
Deputies identified the shooting victim as a 23-year-old male subject from Gretna. The victim told deputies that he was leaving the party walking on Ory Drive when he heard gunshots and ran. As he was running, he was shot. The victim sought safety by climbing on the roof of a nearby house. A vehicle parked on the driveway of a residence on Belle Pointe Boulevard was hit with a projectile.
On Sunday, August 2, 2015, at 6:03 am, deputies responded to a residence in the 2300 block of Yorktowne Drive in LaPlace for the report of multiple gunshots into a house. Deputies saw multiple gunshot holes in the walls, ceiling, cabinets, and rear door. Nine people were in the house. No one was injured.
Sunday morning at 6:50 am, deputies responded to the end of South River Pointe Drive for the report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the field. The vehicle was parked in the area of the Saturday night shooting. The rear passenger window appeared to have been shattered by a single gunshot. A computer check on the vehicle revealed to deputies that the vehicle is registered to the same address as the Yorktowne Drive residence that was just earlier riddled with bullets.
Detectives believe that both incidents are related and are part of an ongoing feud.
