Timothy Johnson, 24, of LaPlace was arrested Friday, May 10, 2024, for shooting two women and killing one of them. The SJSO arrested Johnson for the murder of Todmonique Joseph, 38, of LaPlace.
On May 7, 2024, about 7 p.m., officers responded to the area of South Fig and Sherman Walker streets in Garyville in reference to a double shooting.
Upon arrival officers located two females injured by gunshots in a vehicle. Emergency medical services arrived on scene to render aid to the victims. Joseph, the driver of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The female passenger was transported to a New Orleans area hospital where she was treated and released. Subsequently, officers learned Joseph’s 3-year-old child, who also was a passenger in the vehicle, was taken from the vehicle prior to deputies’ arrival. The child was transported by family members to a local hospital where the child was treated and released.
Through further investigation, detectives developed Johnson as the suspect. Based on investigation, detectives obtained a judicial warrant for his arrest. On Friday, May 10, 2024 Johnson was apprehended and charged with one count of second degree murder and two counts of attempted second degree murder. Johnson is being held in custody in lieu of a $2 million bond.
Sheriff Mike Tregre said he is grateful to the community for its help in this investigation.
“We appreciate people coming forward with information that helped lead to this arrest,” Sheriff Tregre said.
