The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office recently recovered eight illegally possessed firearms and narcotics over a 10-day span as part of the department’s ongoing crime suppression efforts to combat violent crime and protect the community.
SJSO patrol deputies and narcotics investigators recovered the weapons and illegal drugs during a recent operation targeting illegal drug activity and firearm-related violence through traffic stops and search warrants.
Five people have been arrested in connection with those cases.
“We will continue our efforts to remove these types of illegal guns from our streets,” Sheriff Mike Tregre said. “These are some heavy-duty fire power weapons that should not be in the hands of criminals especially while distributing narcotics. I want to thank our community partners who continue to work with my officers by calling and sending in tips. Please continue to do so.”
