A LaPlace man, who has more than 100 previous arrests, was arrested once again on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026 and booked with armed robbery, a felony. Gregory Bernard, 61, is being held in the St. John the Baptist Parish jail under a $65,000 bond.
Over the course of four decades Bernard has been arrested 118 times.
Bernard’s latest arrest comes after St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 200 block of Rue Dubourg in LaPlace in reference to a disturbance with weapons.
A 66-year-old woman informed deputies that she was visiting a friend’s apartment when she was attacked inside the residence by 66-year-old Ken Gregoire and Bernard who held her at knife point and demanded money. The woman said Bernard stole $20 from her.
Deputies located Bernard and Gregoire near the intersection of Dominican Drive. They were arrested without incident and transported to the SJSO’s Detective Bureau where they provided a full confession.
Gregoire was booked with armed robbery (felony) and is also being held in the parish jail under a $65,000 bond.
