The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that happened on Monday, June 15, 2026, in LaPlace in which a 17-year-old was killed. The victim has been identified as Omarion Ingram of LaPlace.

At 7:20 p.m. on Monday, St. John Parish Sheriff’s officers responded to Cinclair Loop in reference to the report of gun shots. When officers arrived on scene, they found evidence of shots having been fired in the form of shell casings on the ground near an alley.

While SJSO was on scene, a relative of Ingram’s informed detectives that Ingram was believed to have been in the area and possibly involved in an altercation around the time the gunfire was reported to the Sheriff’s Office. Relatives told officers that they had not been able to get in contact with Ingram.

While canvassing the area, the Sheriff’s Office found the body of an unresponsive male at 10:08 p.m. The male, later identified as Ingram, was located in a field near the former Winn-Dixie grocery store. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate this case.
